IBCA Hall of Fame Coach Gene Pingatore from (Westchester) St. Joseph High School became the first high school basketball coach in Illinois state history to win his 1,000th game on Saturday, February 11th. In 48 years as the head boys' basketball coach at St. Joseph, Coach Pingatore has compiled a record of 1,001-353 for a winning percentage of 0.757. Pingatore's teams have earned 32 Regional Championships, 13 Sectional Championships, 6 State trophies for top-four finishes, and won the IHSA State Championship in 1999 and 2015. Coach Pingatore was inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame in 1987. The IBCA would like to congratulate Gene Pingatore on his tremendous accomplishment and would like to thank him for all that he has done to grow the game of basketball in Illinois.
